Alice Cooper at Viejas Concert Park
When a man rises from the grave in a bloody suit and sings that school’s been blown to pieces, there may not be a god, but you know that there’s an Alice Cooper. There is frankly no need for Sunday mass once you’ve been here. Concert-wise, Alice Cooper is at the top of his game, showcasing a near-perfect blend of old school and his newer stuff, including some of the best songs from Dirty Diamonds.
The music and the act are perfectly intertwined, simply but effectively. If you live in San Diego, you should have been there tonight. If you haven’t seen this tour yet, there are still a few stops left. You owe it to yourself to find one and get there.
- Alice Cooper
- “After 30 albums and some of the most famous rock songs ever recorded, you’d think Alice Cooper’s demons would’ve been conquered by now--or maybe locked in a cage and fed undercooked meat. But the man who changed the course of rock music in the ’70s with bloody guillotines, sparking electric chairs, slimy boa constrictors, and a little blood and eyeliner still has more to slay.”
- Dirty Diamonds
- From Woman of Mass Distraction to Your Own Worst Enemy, Alice Cooper fans will find much to enjoy on this latest Alice album. I still don’t get Jesse Jane, and this album doesn’t have the incredible standouts that his other recent albums have--the Dirty Diamonds track is no Brutal Planet or Dragontown, for example, nor is there a standout like The Song that Didn’t Rhyme--but it’s still very much worth listening to.
