I'm forwarding this from Denise >Treco, Tekno*Comix Director of Communications: >In response to the malicious and untrue message posted ANONYMOUSLY >yesterday on the Internet, I would like to publicly respond to the >utterly false allegations that were made against Tekno=95Comix; a company >that I have worked for from the beginning and with which I am very happy. Posting anonymously is a viable method of disseminating information that may harm an individual. I was attempting to enlighten the comic community, while preserving my future place in it. That said, this does appear to be the stilted and Parkinson-like prose of our esteemed Director of PR. Completely lacking in animation and passion, like the majority of our books. My post was indeed malicious, much like the "malicious" attempts of individuals to reduce the size of corrupt governments, or blow the whistle on covert/illegal corporate practices. As to the validity of my statements, I have no personal axe to grind. These comments are NOT to my immediate financial or professional benefit. However, other than my former retraction concerning the possible PRECIPITATING factors of Majel's departure, my comments are conservatively accurate. Moreover, I am in a position to know events up to the level of the boardroom. >All our best-selling authors and celebrities have been promptly >compensated. In fact, Mickey Spillane=92s response to the note was the >following: "Absolutely false! I have no intention of divorcing myself >from Tekno=95Comix. I=92m very happy with everyone and everything at >Tekno=95Comix." Rather contrived prose, especially for a master story teller like Mickey. You guy's should be careful about false attributions. >A similar statement was made by Neil Gaiman, creator of three of Tekno=92s >monthly titles. "In light of the Miramax Film deal with Tekno these >claims seem tremendously improbable...the information on the Internet >makes this person look like a disgruntled former employee, of which every >company has its share. My relationship with Tekno is fine.. they are >well-intentioned people." Inside Tekno scuttle-butt has the Teknophage character's origins in Mr. Gaiman's first impressions of our CEO. The Mirimax "deal" will not provide needed operating capital in time. I am astounded that any of the feeble character creations at Tekno could be considered potential box office stars. Maybe the Nimoy name could sell a few tickets, but will the mindless minions flock to Mr. Hero or Mike Danger? (Of course, blind line extension did wonders for Spidey and the X Books). >Ted Slampyak, penciler of Tekno=92s Mr. Hero title, said, "Tekno has >treated me fine and has never shirked any duties or responsibilities. >They=92ve been top-notch from the beginning." Mr. Slampyak has been fairly treated at Tekno. Hell, even pros like our executives can't screw everybody!! Ted, be assured that the essential lack of character of our esteemed patrons will one day be cast in your direction. Hope not, Ted's a great guy. >It=92s unfortunate for all of us that this individual is ANONYMOUSLY using > the Internet to spread such obvious and blatant slander. Tekno=95Comix is >here to stay. SLANDER: "A false and defamatory statement concerning another." Rest assured, I have prodigious documentation. Actually, this would more accurately fall under the rubric of LIBEL: "A method of defamation expressed by print, writing, pictures or signs." How are my posts blatant and obvious slander? Wonder if any respective Institutional Brokers were doing due diligence they might like a few "honest" Tekno credit references? Barnett Bank for example? Why do employees hold their breath when presenting Tekno checks for payment? Why did Office Depot cancel our corporate account? Why did AMEX place us under suspension? For those of you who know Majel personally, see what she tells you off the record. This will be my last post of this nature. I DO NOT like the veil of anonymous posting. However, I am very surprised at the LACK of public cynicism concerning my posts. It seems the comic book community merely absorbs the truths I have offered as AFFIRMATION. Rather than potentially hurt the careers of 45 hard-working and generally sincere corporate employees at Tekno, I'll let the readers form their own opinions of my diatribe and end my reporting career. Many small people have made a major investment in this company. Unlike sincere start ups by those of character, ie: Mr. Shooter, the helmsman at Tekno have never really cared which way the rudder may point. The personal investment by Tekno's founders is about $250K. That has already been recovered many times over. The shareholders will probably be the ultimate losers, the creditors will be blessed with Tekno Art all over their walls. I will rejoin a company with plenty of class still left intact........... >Denise Treco >Director of Communications >Tekno=95Comix ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find out more about the anon service, send mail to [h--p] at [anon.penet.fi.] If you reply to this message, your message WILL be *automatically* anonymized and you are allocated an anon id.
