From: [c--ve--n] at [cae.wisc.edu] (Michael Blakeman Cleveland) Newsgroups: rec.arts.comics.misc Subject: ZERO HOUR SUMMARIES: 2/6: JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE #16 Date: 31 Jul 1994 22:50:20 GMT Justice League Task Force #16 Minor spoiler review: No direct ties to ZH, although it must occur before the big gathering of heroes scene in ZH #3 because of Triumph. Christopher Priest has yet to entertain me with this storyline, but he's got irritation down pat. Not recommended unless you're a rabid JL fan or a rabid ZH completist. Summary w/ spoilers: (continued from JLA #92) Triumph, finished recounting the new, new, new, new origin of the Justice League tries to recruit the remaining members: Despero, Fire, Taz, Crimson Fox, and Elongated Man. They want no part of him because they're so demoralized, so Triump, a true asshole, tries to beat them into submission. Round 1 goes to Triumph. Round 2 goes to the JL. Meanwhile, Arion (yuck!) accuses Chaon of causing the time anomalies, and then yells at the JL and Triumph for being immature. Everybody calms down and agrees to go to Washington to check out Triumph's story, except Arion, who is too cool for humanity, and Fire, who chases Arion and wants him to resurrect Ice. He refuses, and she returns to the makeshift JL headquarters to sulk. While the others get plane tickets, J'onn returns and Fire tells him about Triumph. J'onn has never heard of Triumph. When the rest of the JL gets lost in D.C. (You know, this whole travelling shtick could have been funny, but it wasn't.), Ralph quits. Triumph realizes as he looks at the Capitol Dome that his history never happened in this timeline. Right then, J'onn shows up and pounds him (Yay!) Fire thinks about what Arion said and realizes that Triumph could be telling the truth. Just as J'onn knocks Triumph unconscious into the Tidal Basin, the Plasma-men start showing up. Oops. Michael
