Newsgroups: alt.comics.elfquest,rec.arts.comics.elfquest From: [dm 003 c] at [uhura.cc.rochester.edu] () Subject: NetQuest FAQ v3.4 -- Where is EQ on the Internet? Keywords: FAQ Elfquest Date: Thu, 26 Oct 95 18:16:57 GMT NetQuest v 3.4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This FAQ can be found at ftp.lupine.org:/pub/ElfQuest/NetQuest-FAQ. It can also be found at http://www.lut.fi/~tvaisane, for you Web folk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the NetQuest FAQ. Here you will find information about other sources for Elfquest discussion, information, and play around the Internet. This FAQ is kept by Crone, [dm 003 c] at [uhura.rochester.edu], and posted irregularly to alt.comics.elfquest as well as rec.arts.comics.elfquest. Updated in NetQuest 3.4: TwoMoons timeline info, MUSH info, some Web info ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Table Of Contents 1.) IRC 2.) FTP 3.) Mailing Lists 4.) Newsgroups 5.) WWW (WorldWide Web) 6.) Direct E-mail 7.) Mailing List: A general ElfQuest discussion mailing list. The load is fairly heavy; for the mailbox-conscious, a digest format is available. Richard DOES read this list (at least sporadically). To subscribe: Send 'subscribe equest-l ' to [l--ts--v] at [elfquest.com], with arbitrary subject line. Actual messages to: [EQUEST L] at [elfquest.com] Partial archives of this list exist on lupine.org. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.) Newsgroups Alt.comics.elfquest: The "original" Elfquest newsgroup. How noise-to-signal ratios here compare to the newer rec.arts.comics.elfquest remains to be seen; however, alt.comics.elfquest tends to be somewhat more quiet, probably due to poorer distribution of alt.* groups. Friendly. Rec.arts.comics.elfquest: Created in late 1994 thanks to overwhelming support for the introduction of Elfquest into the rac* hierarchy. Much louder and more on-topic than a.c.eq, probably due to better distribution and more on-topic use. Both newsgroups, at the time of this writing, have a disturbingly large spam (off-topic garble) component. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now, a note from Richard. The following information probably can be assumed to apply also to rec.arts.comics.elfquest. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~From: Richard Pini <[r--i--i] at [delphi.com]> ~Newsgroups: alt.comics.elfquest ~Subject: Posts and Letters Pages ~Date: Wed, 18 May 94 18:49:28 -0500 It occurs to me that I ought to do the same prepwork here that came to be done over in EQUEST-L. From time to time someone will post something that catches my fancy, and I would like to use it in the letters page of this or that title. The consensus over on the other list seems to be that it's OK with everyone. In order to stave off any tsuris later here, I hereby announce: I would like, if and when, to be able to use postings from here too. Deadlines don't generally give me the time to send email to those whose posts I'd like to use, so I'd like to be able to make the assumption, with folks' tacit approval, that I can do so. Nothing will be taken out of context, and the meaning of a post will not be changed, though it may be edited for length. On the other list, I asked for anyone who had an objection to my doing this to let me know and I would not use their posts. I'm making the same call here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.) WWW (WorldWide Web) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A.) Elfquest.Com The official WaRP Graphics Website! Elfquest.com exists at http://www.elfquest.com/ and is OPEN! It contains spoilers, pictures, bios, sneak previews, information about WaRPed people, and more! Other Notably Elfquestian Web Sites ~From: Milton Ngan <[Milton Ngan] at [COMP.VUW.AC.NZ]> I have actually set up an ElfQuest HomePage (of sorts). The Image collection is still on lupine.org, but I have also set up one on my local site. The URL is: http://www.comp.vuw.ac.nz/~milton/elfquest/ This HomePage contains a hypertext version of Dorinda Hartman's EQUEST-L FAQ, an online archive of the past weeks news, the EQUEST-L Xmas 94 message, the second arc of the WaveDancer's trilogy and pointers to other various ElfQuest stuff (CotF, lupine.org etc...) I am willing to add in more links to other people's pages that contain more ElfQuest material. I'll try to whip up a hypertext version of the NetQuest FAQ this weekend and add it in. [Milton's page contains links to almost every other Elfquest site or Elfquest-containing site out there. Have a look around. :)] ............................................................................ Also check out: http://www.ksu.edu/~lyn/ for the Elfquest-L list FAQ http://www.dgsys.com/~mcandrew/ken.html for MUSH stuff http://www.lut.fi/~tvaisane for both FAQs, the Collector's List of Elfquest Stuff, the discussion on elven (omni)sexuality, recent threads from both newsgroups, and the archives from lupine.org (by FTP). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.) Direct E-Mail: I am *assuming* these addresses are still valid. No promises. If you learn otherwise, please notify [dm 003 c] at [uhura.cc.rochester.edu.] Email addresses gleaned from the WaRP web site (www.elfquest.com, see above): * Blood of Ten Chiefs: [b--c] at [elfquest.com] * Hidden Years: [hidden years] at [elfquest.com] * New Blood: [n--bl--d] at [elfquest.com] * Shards: [s--ar--s] at [elfquest.com] * The Rebels: [r--be--s] at [elfquest.com] * Jink: [j--k] at [elfquest.com] Richard Pini can be reached at [r--i--i] at [elfquest.com]; Barry Blair can be reached at [b--a--r] at [elfquest.com.] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.) MUSHes: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two Moons: lupine.org 4201 Sh'k'anna ([R--h--r] at [TwoMoons]) suggests breaking in a test character and trying out the Guest character, which you can login to as "Guest guest." Two Moons' timeline begins near the end of Seige at Blue Mountain; Blue Mountain itself still exists. Events have NOT followed recent ElfQuest canon. Some feature characters (from the books) are still available. The TwoMoons mailing list, twomoons-l, is back... Send mail to [l--ts--v] at [lupine.org], with an empty subject, and the following in the body: subscribe twomoons-l Your Name Here ***UPDATE***The TwoMoons history timeline (since it differs from the WaRP timeline) is available by ftp. Updated info: The TwoMoons timeline of events is available by ftp at ftp.eskimo.com. The directory is u/d/dewshine/tm-timeline. Due to its length, the timeline has been broken into parts, one for pre-MUSH history and one for each year of MUSH online real time (beginning with 1992). Contributions to the timeline should be sent via +mail on Two Moons to Rillwhisper, or via email to [d--sh--e] at [eskimo.com.] Tell Rillwhisper whether you wish to be included on the list of contributors, and if so, what character name should be mentioned if you have multiple ones, and whether you wish your email address mentioned. Corrections to current timeline data, as well as suggestions for improvements in the readability and format of the information, are more than welcome. Direct questions and commentary to Rillwhisper. Rillwhisper's FTP site also has information about TwoMoons, particularly about a few of the special tribes there. Also, Rillwhisper's timeline is now mirrored nightly on ftp.lupine.org in /pub/ElfQuest/Twomoons-Timeline. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ELFQUEST: HIDDEN YEARS Located at RealTime MUSH realtime.pci.on.ca 6125 This MUSH is currently open only for building and code. Many features are open; log onto realtime and ask Leetah or someone else in the ElfQuest area for help. There is a Book Character Box in the ElfQuest OOC area; if you are interested in a feature, that's the best place to look. Hidden Years starts somewhere in early Kings of the Broken Wheel. The news there states: "Rayek was about to take the palace into the future with Leetah, Suntop, Skywise, Trinket and Ekuar when something happened. With an order from Cutter, who was almost to the point of hurting Rayek to keep the Palace still, Petalwing came in, and while Rayek was distracted with sends from the underwater Winnowill, made wrapstuff. Rayek never moved the great Palace and carefully Rayeks cocoon was taken away by Cutter and hidden. Kahvi, Tyldak, Aroree and Venka soon joined the party. Much to Kahvi's disgust, no one would disclose the location of Rayek's body. Aroree was reunited with her Skywise and Winnowill was kept at bay by little Venka. In only a couple years Kahvi was tired of living the Wolfrider's life and tricked Petalwing into giving away Rayek's location. Kahvi took Rayek's body with the help of Tyldak and a tricked Ekuar. Kahvi left Venka behind, for she knew the trek back to the old continent would be difficult, and Tyldak could not carry them all even in short bursts one at a time, back to her tribe. Eight years passed since Kahvi vanished with Rayek, Tyldak and Ekuar, never to be heard from again. Cutter and the other Wolfriders guard the Palace of the High Ones with new powers and skill, wishing to return to the place they once knew. What Kahvi has done with Rayek is unknown, now Venka grows stronger with her cubmate Tyleet close by, with Timmain, the High One as their guard. In this world elves roam in untold tribes, trolls hide in dark caves and dwellings, humans hunt elves and Wolfriders rule the Palace.. for now." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***NEW MUSHES*** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dreamberry Tales Not currently open for character creation or roleplay, Dreamberry Tales (set after the fall of Blue Mountain) is interested in builders and coders. For information, reply to this post. (Please don't copy the whole posting in?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fallen Dream Also not currently open for character creation or roleplay, Fallen Dream is set in later Abode than the other EQ MUSHes. At the time of this writing, they intend to open right after the burning of the Forevergreen; the Sun Village has not been gutted by humans; Ember and her tribe are trying to deal with Teir. Exactly what's going on in the Citadel is unknown. Fallen Dream is actively seeking builders and coders; applications for feature characters are welcome. Email [d g myth] at [roundtable.cif.rochester.edu] for more information, or reply to this post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***DEAD MUSH*** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHILDREN OF THE FALL This MUSH opened approximately after the events of Shards #5 (talk about being in the middle of things) and HY #17. Where they are in relation to New Blood is uncertain. Note that this MUSH is down and apparently staying down. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "None shall bow, no elf shall bow head to another, not even to a chief, not even to me." --Swift-Spear Send corrections to: Crone [dm 003 c] at [uhura.cc.rochester.edu] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
