The Pantheon are/were a secret organization of superpowered beings who appeared in the comic _The_Incredible_Hulk_ from issues #379-426. 2] C'mon who are they? There are two basic kinds of Pantheon members. Agents, who range from scientists to superheroes like Arabian Knight, and "members" who among other things, share a common ancestry [more on that later..] So far, we've seen the following members: ACHILLES: Tall, blond, and invulnerable, Achilles discovered his sole weakeness: Gamma Radiation. Had an ill-fated love for Atlanta, and was killed by Ulysses II. AGAMMEMNON: True name, apparently Vali, a native of Asgard, and possibly the son of Loki. He is the only true immortal, the other members having gained their long-lifedness from a deal Aggy made with the Troyans. There were several hints dropped within the issues which indicated Aggy might be Bucky Barnes, former partner of Captain America. I tend to doubt it, since Vali's attitude is far too nasty. Although Vali looks like a young teen, he masked his appearance with an illusion of a bald man with a white beard. It is unclear if this was technological or mystic in nature. Vali is apparently deceased, but his Asgardian heritage, combined with the lack of a body, gives reasonable doubt to that conclusion. AJAX: Real name, unknown. A misshapen giant with immense strength, dependant on an exo-sketleton for mobilty, and very protective of Atlanta. Present whereabouts, with Atlanta at "an overseas location." ATLANTA: Freckled woman with short black hair. Uses a "plasma bow." Formerly in love with Achilles, now vanished along with Ajax. CASSIOPEIA: This silver-haired jokester can draw energy from starlight, and release it as a bolt of great potency. She is the daughter of Perseus, and for reasons of her own, is chasing after Hector. She, Hector, and Prometheus have gone off on their own. CASSANDRA: Deceased mother of Delphi. Apparently shared her abilities. DELPHI: This seeress' powers depend on her remaining virginal. Ulysses II would like to change that. She has vanished. HECTOR: Hector is the brother of Prometheus, and has limited flight [or "airwalking" abilities.] He uses a plasma mace and chain in combat. He also happens to be homosexual, although Cassieopeia hopes she can change that. JASON: One-eyed assasin for Vali, Jason was considered a traitor by the other members, although his true motives were slightly purer. Whereabouts, unknown. PARIS: Real name, Nathan Taylor, recruited by the Pantheon during the Watts Riots. Paris is not only an empath, but also a manipulative bastard. He took command of the remaining agents after the Fall, and moved them overseas. He disliked Ulysses II, and now hates the Hulk as well. PERSEUS: Deceased father of Casseiopeia, and wielder of a plasma spear. PROMETHEUS: Prometheus has an uncanny tracking ability, and a really neat car. His scarred appearance is not the result of burns, but is instead a birth defect. THESEUS: Ok, I made him up in the first version of the FAQ. But if I keep mentioning him [and his plasma axe] maybe PAD will use him sometime. ULYSSES I: Recruited & trained Walter Charles, who suceeded as wielder of the plasma sword and shield after Ulysses' death in the Watts riot. ULYSSES II: Real name, Walter Charles. Ulysses wields the weapons associated with his "name." and is presently on a quest to find Delphi, whom he has loved since first laying eyes on her [at her birth?]. 3] What was the Fall of the Pantheon? For his own reasons, Vali recruited Robert B. Banner, the adventurer better known as the Hulk, to lead the Pantheon during a sabattical. However, various revelations involving the Troyans led the others to call for his arrest and imprisonment. They were successful, but Vali called the Endless Knights, and the Mount, HQ of the Pantheon, was destroyed in the ensuing conflict. 4] Endless Knights? Who were they? When a Pantheon member dies, his body disaapears in a glow of energy. This apparently is the result of a spell similar to that which empowers the Asgardian construct called the Destroyer. In any case, the "soul" of the member is trapped within black armor, and forced to fight for Vali. Not a pleasant experience, by all accounts. 5] Will we see the Pantheon again? I certainly hope so. I would suggest a miniseries taking place before the recruitment of the Hulk, similar to the Ulysses backstory of issues 407-412. PAD?
