CTRL-ALT-P gives you the Panel description style. CTRL-P gives you the blue, all-caps, underlining style for the Panel #. ALT-P ends the CTRL-P blueing. CTRL-ALT-D gives you the default dialog sytle. CTRL-ALT-C gives you the default caption style. CTRL-ALT-R gives you the default reference style. References are things that you want to be able to see, but that you donít want to show up when you print the document. If you canít see the green reference just below this, click the Show Hidden option on the Options dialog box, from the Tools menu. Well, what do you know. Of course, those of you who are red/green color blind will probably not like my choice of colors for references and dialog. No problem: change the styles yourself. See that number & question mark up on the ribbon? Thatís for number me, and it numbers the panels and dialog within a selection. CTRL-A, of course, selects the entire document. Number me requires that panel descriptions start with the word ìpanelî, a space, and a number, and that dialogs start with a number. See the examples on the next pages. The two documents icon next to the number & question mark is for textify. It converts the document to a format suitable for e-mailing to people who only have text viewers. Two options I like to have set on the Tools, Option dialog box: Show Hidden Text, and Show: Bookmarks. For example, the ìComic Titleî is a bookmark. Whatever you type there also shows up at the end of the script (go ahead and take a look now), and on the header of each page. Sometimes, changes wonít update until you do a print or a print preview. ìDescriptive Title for Page 1î Describe the page. If you donít see the words ìDescriptive Title for Page 1î next to Page 1 above, you need to ìShow Hiddenî. The descriptive title wonít show up when you print the script. Itís just help for you during the outline. In order to make a new page, you can either go into Outline view and create a new one, or, you can type a descriptive title and apply the ìheading 1î style. Panel 1. Describe panel 1. Note that the all-caps and underline for the ëheaderí of this panel is a character style. 1. cap: A caption. Panel 2. Describe Panel 2. 2. Character: Some dialogue. You can make new styles for your characters, but Make sure you base their style on the ëdialogueí style. This way, updates to the ëdialogueí style get carried over to all styles based on ëdialogueí.
