"After four months of heartfelt consideration, the remaining members of the band met yesterday and and concluded that the long, strange trip of the unique beast known as the Grateful Dead is over. "Individuallly and in various combinations the members will undoubtedly continue to make music with different names and structure... "Mindful of their partners in this venture, the Deadheads, they want to remind them that the music, values, and spirit of this marvelous shared journey endure.
