Phelps) Subject: Re: Part 1 of 3: The Case Against Gun Control Date: Sun, 17 Oct 1993 12:34:12 GMT Heres some numbers from 1989 (the firearms number has dropped since): falls - 11,300 drowning - 5,300 fires - 4,800 poison - 4,400 (liquids and solids) choking - 3,200 firearms - 1,400 poison - 1,000 (gas) US population was about 240-250 million at the time. The firearms number has since dropped to about 1,200, while the population has risen to 250-260 million. As a matter of fact, since 1932, the US population has doubled, while the number of accidental deaths has dropped by about 54%, without any reported drop in the percentage of citizens who own firearms.
