From: [h--lo--e] at [polymath.tti.com] (The Polymath) Newsgroups: rec.guns Subject: CA Certified Instructor Update Date: 30 Mar 1994 21:05:26 -0500 I just had an informative talk with the manager of the California DOJ BFSC program. She told me that, as an instructor, I _can_ proctor exams and show the video to give certificates, despite the wording of the handbook. She also said the handbook was deliberately worded as it is in order to encourage instructors to teach courses rather than just use the video or give the test. I explained to her that, as a not-for-profit kitchen table operation, I had a hard enough time coming up with students for my 4 -5 hour course _before_ they began offering tests and videos. Now it will be nearly impossible. Anyway, I'm going to order some tests and certificates ($100/pack of ten -- ouch!) and call all my former students, as I promised I would -- pro bono publico as they say. I take back most of the nasty things I thought and said about the CADOJ, for now.
