From: [h--ge--p] at [cs.indiana.edu] (Paul Hager) Newsgroups: talk.politics.guns Subject: ACLU/ICLU commission on 2nd meets! Date: 3 Aug 93 15:18:31 GMT I announced on this newsgroup several months back that the Indiana Civil Liberties Union (a state affiliate of the ACLU) had formed a commission to develop a policy regarding the 2nd Amendment. I am happy to report that we held our first meetin this past Saturday, 31 July. Five of the seven members were in attendance and we have divvied up the responsibility for the final report. I will be working on the sociological and public health analysis. Other areas of analysis are: constitutional law, historical, and philosophical. I would like to solicit from readers/contributors to this group information pro and con on matters of guns and violence, guns and suicide, guns and crime prevention, and any other related matter that bears on the societal impact of gun availability. This is your chance to have an input into a policy that may have a major political impact. I am on the state board of the ICLU and I can assure you that, unlike National ACLU which has spinelessly refused to address this issue, we will do so, let the chips fall where they may. -- paul hager [h--ge--p] at [cs.indiana.edu] "The most formidable weapon against errors of every kind is reason." -- Thomas Paine, _The Age of Reason_
