Date: Fri, 3 Mar 1995 11:04:47 GMT The so-called Death Clock in Times Square, Manhattan, New York is being dismantled as of March 2, 1995! In case you don't know, this sign overlooking Times Square went up in 1994 to chronicle "gun deaths" in America. Of course, the number was meaningless as it included suicides, justifiable shootings by police and civilians, and accidental deaths. It also had a counter that supposedly indicated the number of guns in America. The sign also had a light-board that scrolled anti-gun messages. Beneath that was a sign to "Join the Gunfighters," and gave a number to call. Of course, the phone number was painted over shortly after the sign went up, as the protest calls apparently outnumbered the anti-gun callers by a tremendous margin. The sign was erected by one Robert Brennan shortly before his federal prosecution on charges that he defrauded the investors of First Jersey Securities. No doubt he was trying to curry favor with Janet Reno's Justice Department. It seems not to have helped. Brennan claimed he became anti-gun after his son was killed by a gun. Of course that was only a half-truth. His son was reportedly shot by a police officer while his son was involved in criminal activity. I don't think I'll miss walking by the board each day on the way to work, even though it served as a fair monument to the stupidity and disingenuity of the gun grabbers. Robert P.
