In article <[203319 Z 17021994] at [anon.penet.fi]> [an 13578] at [anon.penet.fi] (EROSTRATUS) writes: February 1, 1994 An editorial in the New York Daily News (1/31/94), by Joe Queenan brings to light some interesting facts about the sponsor of the infamous New York "Death Clock" billboard. The organization which sponsors the billboard, the Dehere Gun Fighters, was founded by Robert Brennan, a New Jersey businessman. Items highlighted by the editorial: Brennan's brother, made out to be a victim of gun violence 25 years ago, was actually "shot by a law officer in New Jersey after a car chase." Brennan has been "the subject of Securities and Exchange Commission fraud investigations that date back more than 15 years." Finally, Brennan is going to trial soon in a case in which the SEC is seeking $20 million dollars "for selling stocks in companies of dubious value." The editorialist, Queenan, is intrigued by the timing of the "Death Clock" billboard considering Brennan's upcoming trial. The editorial finishes by suggesting Brennan "consider paying for The Who's Kidding Who Clock which would keep tabs on all the scoundrels who try, just before the feds haul them into court, to buy the public's favor with sordid PR stunts."
