Brady's appearance received coverage in both THE BOSTON GLOBE and THE BOSTON HERALD. While the presence (next to Brady) of ban advocate ex-House Speaker Charles F. Flaherty was mentioned (he resigned in disgrace last week), what the media did not mention was that ex-Speaker Flaherty "copped a plea" and went down on one federal felony count to avoid being tried on multiple felony counts of tax fraud and being sent to Club Fed at Danbury, CT for five years or more. Well, at least he didn't make a run for Justus Township! No jail time, though. It must be nice, I thought, as I mailed my 1040 to Uncle Sam before April 15th unlike "Above The Law" Charlie. What an opportunity for the NRA and GOAL! "Felon politician joins Jim Brady to Back Gun Ban!" This has * real * possibilities, especially given the fact that Flaherty rammed the gun ban through the Massachusetts House just before he copped the plea. Go for it, Tanya and Tom. Make sure the U.S.A. knows that Jim and Sarah Brady are joined by convicted federal felons, in this case a corrupt politician, in their fervent support for gun control! This is a knee slapper extraordinaire. It doesn't get any better than this. Source: BOSTON HERALD page 17 04/17/96 BRADY HITS GUN LOBBY IN STATE HOUSE VISIT (reporter: Connie Paige) Christopher C.
