I am therefore posting it under a separate heading. 1) CBS's show "60 Minutes" did a segment on the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms recently. The segment focussed on sexual harassment of female agents within the BATF as well as low morale within the agency and its "tarnished image." In frustration with management's inflexible response to their in-house complaints, a group of agents finally went public on "60 minutes" as whistle-blowers. The segment was interesting in its portrayal of a federal agency experiencing internal disorder, mayhem, overly macho attitudes, and with a wild-west ideal permeating the staff. But what is germaine to this thread is that the segment closed with Dan Rather adding, almost as an afterthought, that these whistle-blowers were of the unanimous opinion that the original motivation for the raid on the "Koresh compound" was an effort to improve the BATF's tarnished image. [The segment aired on Sunday, May 23rd, 1993. I don't know if Rather's final comment would be included in a transcript.] T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~T | >>> Con pensamientos del verano, soy <<< | | >>> El rey de la playa. <<< | | >>> Brian Redman <<< | | >>> ([b f rg 9732] at [uxa.cso.uiuc.edu]) <<< | | >>> ([72567 3145] at [compuserve.com]) <<< | | >>> "Quid coniuratio est?" <<< | L---------------------------------------------------------------J
