However, their places have been taken by alternative media reporters. These include: James Pate, reporting for "Soldier of Fortune" magazine. Pate has been following the Branch Davidian situation since day one. Pate has also extensively covered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. "'ATF had some serious problems with severe warrant abuse, and I was covering that for a year prior to Waco.'" Pate has also written debunking the Linda Thompson videotape "The Big Lie". Richard Sokolow of the "National Alliance" weekly newspaper, put out by the independent political party the New Alliance Party, which claims to be pro-democracy and which gave rise to Lyndon LaRouche. "'One of our main concerns is the government's character- ization of the Branch Davidians as a cult. That's letting the government determine what is and what is not a legitimate religion. It's a violation of the separation of church and state.'" Ken Fawcett, representing the Radio Free America network. Fawcett also does weekly reports for KLAV radio in Las Vegas, Nevada, and writes for the conservative weekly newspaper "The Spotlight". Tom Cook, writing daily summaries for the American Patriot Fax Network. Paul Means, former member of the board of directors of the National Press Club, who is writing for a company that produces a number of newsletters, including "Defense Weekly". Means was in San Antonio recovering from heart surgery when his company asked him to cover the trial. [San Antonio hosts several major medical centers] Rod Norberg, owner of Global Communications, Inc. of San Antonio, which supplies articles to many weekly newspapers nationwide, as well as several conservative outlets. ========================= ADMINISTRIVIA ========================= KNOWN DISTRIBUTIONS USENET: talk.politics.guns, alt.politics.org.batf, alt.politics.usa.misc, alt.conspiracy & alt.politics.libertarian - posted by author (alt.politics.libertarian added by request) mailing list Firearms Politics ([firearms politics] at [ns1.rutgers.edu]) - sent by author (gated to moderated newsgroup info.firearms.poli- tics) FIDONET: DEBATE and CONTROVERSY - forwarded by Terry Goodman (terry.goodman @support.com / 1:102/837) LEGAL (non-backbone) - forwarded by Lester Garrett (1:125/101) SmartNet: POLIPHIL - forwarded by Lester Garrett (FIDO 1:125/101) BIX: Area tojerry/inquest - forwarded by Paul L Schauble <[p l s] at [shell.portal.com]> The Patrick Henry League - a gun rights BBS network: Forwarded by Paul L Schauble <[p l s] at [shell.portal.com]> Please feel free to forward these updates to any other groups, conferences and networks that you feel may be interested.
