From: [o--n] at [cbnewsb.cb.att.com] (Mr. X) Newsgroups: talk.politics.guns Subject: This just in from the Police State... Date: 4 Aug 93 15:01:17 GMT Just to add another anecdote to the great body of those that illustrate that the Guv cannot under any circumstances be trusted, I offer the following. Here in the beautiful Police State (NJ) there is a defacto system of registration for all handguns purchased within state boundaries. It is a registration scheme in purchase permit's clothing. When this system was instituted many years ago, it was sworn and promised left and right that the information would never be used to track gunb ownership, that the information was gathered only as a means of determining any possible ineligibility for gun ownership due to criminal status or as a mental defective. Yesterday at lunch, I'm sittign down with a coworker named Tom. Tom has a SIG P226 (one of those Evil(tm)HighCapacitySemiautomaticMachinePistols). Well, the other week he got a cute phone call from his local police department stating that they knew he had a gun with a magazine capacity > 15 rounds and that they are requiring him to insert some form of device into each such magazine that would reduce the capacity to the legal limit. So much for their honesty. Tom's response was to say that when they send him a device for each of his EvilHighCapacityAssaultMagazines, he would install them as requested. He also notified them that he had not only 16 round mags, but 21, 30 and a 50 rounder as well and that they would have to send devices for all these. The person on the other end of the line was apparently quite put off by this news and told him that they'd have to get back to him on this. Hasn't heard a peep out of the fools since then. Anyone who trusts in government is, I'm sorry to say, an IDIOT. All you folks out there that actually believe that the Guv is here to kiss your booboos when you fall down are fooling yourselves. It is quite the other way around, and worse. -Andy V.
