Schrunk - Multnomah County District Attorney phones: 503-248-03162, 503-248-3511, fax: 503-248-3643 Dear District Attorney Schrunk: It's now been 3 weeks since we last spoke in what I thought was to be an on-going dialogue. Be that as it may, I'll come straight to the point. The league wants the following: CEASE FIRE! I. Immediately stop prosecutions of adult "drug offenders" for: A. Cultivating a personal use amount (say 10 mature plants) of marijuana, unless involved in distribution to minors. B. Possessing a personal use amount of dried marijuana (say up to 1lb.), unless involved in distribution to minors. C. Possessing small quantities (amount ?) of any drug for personal use, unless involved in distribution to minors. HARM REDUCTION II. Divert all funds that would have been used for prosecutions and transfer them to the Public Health for drug treatment on demand. III. Make formal recommendations, at all levels of government, to implement "Harm Reduction" policies. Join the league in our proposal to create an experimental "Harm Reduction Zone" where drug addicts can anonymously get clean drugs, paraphernalia, HIV prevention materials, and medical care if needed. PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM REAL CRIMINALS! I hate to be so harsh but this "WAR" has gone on long enough. Continued support of it represents a gross dereliction of duty on your part. Admit the TRUTH: Once again as with Alcohol Prohibition, adult drug prohibition has failed and we must now find alternatives. You have 7 days to reply, in writing, to my stated demands. I remain open to dialogue, but the time for merely talking has passed. Too many lives hang in the balance. In solidarity for "Drug Peace!"
