From: [m--e] at [cs.pdx.edu] (Mike Harvey) Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.misc Subject: RPG utilities available Date: 26 Mar 1994 02:55:52 -0800 I have written several DOS programs which might be of interest to RPG gamers. They are available via anonymous ftp at ftp.cs.pdx.edu in the directory pub/people/mike. geo-101.zip Generates fractal world-maps. Requires 286 and VGA. name.zip Generates names for RPGs and writers. Uses text files for name elements (20-30 sample files included). agen.zip Generates random adventure ideas, following the suggestion on p.185 of Fantasy Hero, but much more complex. Also generates nice fantasy names. bnf.zip Parses a BNF style input grammar to generate random text. Can be used for virtually anything if you can create a BNF grammar for it. Includes sample ideas of name generator, NPC generator, adventure generator. dice.zip Quick-n-dirty dice roller for the Hero system, including Normal and Killing damage. These are all free. Hope someone out there in cyberspace finds them useful. (I usually compile for a 286; if you have an 8086 and they don't work, let me know and I'll recompile that program.) Comments/evaluations welcome, as are suggestions for future enhancements. Mike -- Mike Harvey [m--e] at [cs.pdx.edu] Put all things to the test; keep what is good.
