From: [j f reeman] at [chrysalis.org] (Jeff Freeman) Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.announce Subject: [Club] Dallas/Ft Worth Adventuer Game Assoc. - DEC NEWS Date: Wed, 06 Dec 95 05:49:41 GMT From: [j f reeman] at [chrysalis.org] (Jeff Freeman) The D/FW Gamer December 1995 There has been a bit of a change to the Dallas/Ft Worth Adventure Game Association - starting with the newsletter. The Gamers Seeking Games ads are being compiled onto a single page flyer and mailed to the game-shops in multiple copies. D/FWAGA will therefore be a way to /post your ad/ at several game shops all over town. Gamers will be able to grab our ads the same way they currently grab convention flyers, which will always include an ad for D/FWAGA itself. The newsletter is now going to be a one or two-page affair, such as this one, containing generally nothing but D/FWAGA administrative issues. Articles may pop up from time to time, but that depends more on you writing something for publication. D/FWAGA will now focus almost exclusively on its primary mission - to provide a communication /network/ for Dallas area gamers. Other /extra/ functions that D/FWAGA could perform, with a lot of active members, will be left to individuals in Dallas to coordinate, administrate and participate. Naturally, D/FWAGA may be very helpful in locating fellow enthusiasts, but that should be the extent of D/FWAGA's role in the endeavor. Dallas Morning News, Weekend Guide The Dallas' Morning News is running the /Adventure Game Association/ plug more or less regularly (in Fridays' Weekend Guides). This would be a good place to advertise your own club's gatherings. We're dropping the Voting Membership fee. The point never was to raise money anyway, but rather to restrict /petty politicking/. The way the association is organized does that all by itself. If you want to do something game-related, then you call the shots. Donations to support D/FWAGA are appreciated. Make checks payable to Jeff Freeman and thanks a bunch. A volunteer to play the role of Welcome-Wagon would be very appropriate. A more personal welcome might do a lot towards generating more gaming-activity. In-store Gaming If you are interested in In-Store-Gaming, check your yellow-pages under /GAMES & SUPLS/ and /COMIC BOOKS & ITEMS/. Call the game-shops near you and ask what they have available. Re:Quests! is the newsletter of Mensa's RPG SIG. You don't need to be a member of Mensa to subscribe. Subscription is $8 for 4 issues, which are published quarterly. This is a 40-page (roughly) digest-sized fanzine with lots of Letters from readers (to the editor, to other readers and to no one in particular), an ongoing fantasy story, Adventure Starters and an assortment of other game-related articles, reviews, etc. Mention The D/FW Gamer and get a sample-copy for $1.
