Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.advocacy,rec.games.frp.misc From: [i--z--e] at [hogshead.demon.co.uk] (James Wallis) Subject: The return of IMAZINE X-Mailer: cppnews $Revision: 1.41 $ Date: Wed, 9 Nov 1994 03:37:45 +0000 Anyone who was active in the British role-playing scene during the mid to late 1980s will be aware of Paul Mason, firebrand and argumentative bugger, and his almost legendary fanzine IMAZINE. Sighs of sadness and relief were heaved in equal measure in 1988 when IMAZINE bit the dust with issue 20: its policy of praising the good, damning the bad and advancing the innovative had given it a reputation which was highly respected, if not regarded with fondness by everyone in the hobby. I was lashed by his pen a couple of times, and on cold nights can still feel the scars. Paul is now living in Japan, but he was over in the UK this summer, staying in my flat while I was in the USA. During the few hours we were actually able to see each other, he mentioned that he was thinking of reviving IMAZINE. I choked momentarily on my pasta, smiled wanly, wished him a happy holiday and left for the airport. Well, a disk arrived in the post a few months later, and IMAZINE 21 was on it. Paul doesn't have access to the Net, so he asked me to upload it. It's the following message -- not a huge issue as these things go, but not to be sniffed at. (I also have it as a self-extracting PKZIPPED file, which would make a useful addition to an FTP site. Anyone want to give it a home?) And lastly, in the zine Paul asks for feedback but as I mentioned, he's not on the net. However, if you want to respond, address email to "[i--z--e] at [hogshead.demon.co.uk]", I'll put it on a disk and send it off to him. Enclosing your realmail address would probably be a good idea. Ladies and gentlemen, only six years late, I give you IMAZINE 21. -- James Wallis <> Publishers of INTERACTIVE FANTASY HOGSHEAD PUBLISHING LTD <> <> and other stuff we can't discuss ([j--m--s] at [hogshead.demon.co.uk]) <> yet.
