(I assume we're talking about the same prototype LAV - it wasn't in the reference, and it looked kind of shiny and new.) On Corbyn's professional estimate, we're looking at a multi-purpose LAV, the same kind of idea as the Hind last century. It's got a troop cabin, at least, though it has to be pretty cramped in there. Main gun's a conventional vehicle chaingun, not fun to be on the wrong end of but nothing new, and it has the usual missile pylons. But this is the good bit: they flew this thing around for a while, blew away some decoy targets, then our fire support finally turned up. Four top-notch wizzers, hermetics, dripping talismans, let loose with everything they had - powerbolts, wreckers, fireballs, you name it. My buddy Rich says they were doing the mind-control stuff too. When the smoke cleared, the damn' LAV was still coming after us, not even a scorch mark on it. Fortunately I was on-line at the time, burned their protocols and knocked the thing out of the sky. (No boasts, but it was pretty hard - military-grade IC, but fortunately I had the backdoor.) Avgas burns real pretty at night. Anyway, we went seriously to ground and headed out the next morning. Didn't have time or inclination (nobody bankrolling us) to set up a proper run to find out more. The eye was around 1/4 the width of the pyramid and about half-way down, and made up of straight lines which looked as if they were drawn with an italic-type pen. Now for the bad news: when he saw it, it was on some extremely nasty elite-looking troopers - _government_ troopers, and he doesn't know who was funding them - and on the stuff they were guarding, some cybertech so cutting-edge that . . . well, let me put it this way. They would have gotten away, too, except that panzer came by and got everyone's attention. After the fight I got my stuff back. And by the way: marches-I recall that German marched are typically slower than American marches (which were originally played by musicians on amphetamines, partially causing the widespread drug addiction in the music industry until the electric bass replacedd the Sousaphone as primary support instrument-at least, I think I read that somewhere).
