They go off breaking into top class datastores, screwin with major IC to figure out what Tir Tairngire's "Secret" Gross Domestic Product value is, and what their production is . . . Chummers, we're in 2054 - don't these drekheads know any economics. The data is sitting right in front of them. Per Capita Income multiplied by Population equals Gross Domestic Product -- in this case Y55,000 x 5,610,000 = Y308,500,00 --> i.e. Tir Tairngire has a GDP of three hundred eight and a half billion nuyen. Also, as anyone with a pinch of economics knows in modern industrial countries 25% of GDP is Industrial Goods Manufacture 75% is Services. Moreover, Corporations usually produce between 70% -50% of all GDP. Since the Tir has more cottage industries than per usual it wo uld be 50% of GDP is corporate produced. Probably, 60 billion nuyen in exports 20 billion in imports. So there - in a few minutes I gave you info that deckers were risking there lives for. Just Fraggin' Unbelievable ain't it. Well let me respond to my various critics. First, my analysis of the Tir's economic situation is soundly generated - look for yourself and tell me where I went wrong. Second, I DO have a VERY good idea of the power, wealth, influence, and (to put it delicately) martial operating effectiveness of the Tir. As for any bias I might have of elves - that is pure nonsense. NightShade, an Ex-Paladin (the sinister kind I mean) is my very best friend, and I have quite a few associates that are Tirian elves. I do not threaten Tir Tairngire. I am one person, with no possibility of bring- ing down a wealthy country. I merely state that I do have assets, in orbital, of my own. As no shadowrunner absolutely knows the history of another (we do deliberately hide it) I think it would be wise not to speculate about who, what or how someone like myself might be related to the Orbitals - and what they would do for me. Lastly, Like most 'runners I am wanted by several entities for illicit activities . . . They have not been able do Vanish me, and I dare say that the Tir is not the most powerful of these. As I said before the Tir has 5,610,000 people and GDP of Y308,500,000,000. The Imperial Japanese Empire has over 100,000,000 people and a GDP of approx. 4.1 trillion nuyen - a consistent martial assets. The Tir is a wealthy, powerful nation - but remember in the great scheme of things it is the smallest of the Big Players. UCAS: 170 million population GDP 5.2 trillion nuyen Los Angeles MegaSprawl: approx. 7,100,000 people GDP Y400,000,000,00 and remember Britain, etc... that I have not even brought up. And just to show you what a chummer I am, I'll recite the line for you. Several years back I was doin' the shadowscene getting work, getting fragged, the usual. I got really fraggin' sick of it, decided to try something more stea dy. So me and NightShade start scoping out merc bars, i.e. The Titan. And we fi nally get this offer. The Johnson knows enough about our streetreps and deals to impress, so we here the pitch. Basicly, by the end of the night we'd signed on for a one year tour with the Chrome Cobras - yes, thats right, the RDSG (Rapid Deployment Strike Group) that was being funded by Ares Macro and Mikoyan -Gureivich (the famous MiG Aerospace). They became briefly famous after being linked with the Carribean Neutralization Incident that forced their Disbandsure . Well anyways, NightShade and I get teamed up with 2 other mercs and a mage. Now this was one strange mage - initiate for sure, elven wore a long black overjacket with silver sigils - never took it off. Everybody was real pro, so after a month of intensive we're a commisionned team. One of our missions was especially relevant to weather pattern shift. Some archaeologists had brought back some very interesting stuff from a secret dig in Aztlan. They stuck it at a special max secure warehouse, and it was supposed to be shipped the next day. Why MiG or Ares went into the art business I don't know - but our mission was to retrieve this a special box from the dig that was in the warehouse. Sorry, somethin is happenin with the Coyotes . . Be back After. OUT.|<<<<< -- KHANx (Multiple File Transmit Procedure) >>>>>|Tsa'right. Nil persp. O.K., where was I? Thats right I remember. So we had to go get this thing outta the warehouse. Well, we got ourselves A Chrysler Valkyrie Panzer made up in appropriate corp colors, get the disguise suits, showed up 5 mins. before the real pickup panzer was supposed to. Close e nough not to arouse suspicion. They let us in past the perimeter (we Decked the ir passcode) and into the warehouse. But of course, a corpocrat got suspicious. We had the place locked up and subdued in under a minute. After breaking open the designated crate we found a 1x1x1 gold box with cut rock crystal sides. The style was all very Mayan- stylized ornate people, dragons, etc.. Inside was a Hexagon made of a marble like material - xcept that red, black, and gold vapors were writhing inside. On each side of the hexagon was a carved face, Mayan styl ized looking - but really creepy - each face looked like a metahuman:Elven, Ork ,Troll, Dwarf. So anyways we grab the thing. A casually jam out of there. Just as we're at the gate The Real Pickup panzer turns the corner . . . Needless to say we we re dodging munitions after that. Finally got away and went to our fallback - a deserted Reserve Army Base outside the Sprawl. About 2 am we had guests. 3 panzers 50 groundtroops. All in light grey, no patches or insigs. We were in a fortress - but had no mobility and were outnumbered. ooops! Somethin comeup 'gain.|<<<<< -- KHANx (MultiDump FilSpec) >>>>>|I'm back. So they had us pinned/we had them pinned. Still it didn't look good for us. They were using their panzers main guns to weaken our structure and we couldn't do the same to them because IR told us they had AntiArmor missiles. We take a f ew of them down, but thats about it. So then the mage tells to get into our Panzer - he says he's going to punch a whole in their lines. I'm thinking BullD rek. Yah, he's an initiate, yah he'll use a fireball or hellblast - but it ain' t nearly enough at this point. But he tells us he's got something special. So we hop into the panzer and wait. He gets in and tells the rigger to roll for- ward so he can see the sky. After we do that, he starts chanting, pointing at the stars, yelling at them - and then one of the silver sigils on his overjacke t burns off/ actually vanishes, and a sharp flash of light of his hands. Then he faints. And nothing . . . Nothing happens -- at first. Then we notice a small falling star . . . Heading our way! Eventually the thing impacts on our attackers with a tremedous explosion, light, rocking earth, the whole bit. It annihilates one panzer, kills 10 guys, damages everything else - huge gap in their defenses -- which we zoom through. Later, he wakes up, and we go out to really drink. You know, its our lives chummer - still alive. So after uncounted drinks we start pressuring him about the spell. He doesn't wanna tell us, but after a while (7 drinks later) he give s us some details. Seems he was off doing meditation for an upcoming initiation in Tir Tairngi re's wilderness when suddenly the background count gets so high it starts physi cally burning. So he sits and checks the place out, Asrtal ways if ya scan. Get s nothin'. He figures Mask. Takes another 2 days to discover an outjutting crag g is really a huge stone vault door into the ground. Goes gets supplies and com es back. The door is incredibly warded, and locked, and other stuff, in his own words" Like spell energy used to create a net of magic covering the door like it was made of 1 inch thick magiwire tied with gordian knot puzzles" -- yes he was very drunk. So anyways he finally gets through (5 days later) and enters a secret catacomb. Narrow and many branched. Lots of sarcophigi, a few other artifacts. He gets into one chamber, and behind the leaning Sarcophigi are shel ves packed with stuff. He takes one scroll out when he hears a menacing scrathi ng/scraping in the catacombs. He gets totally consumed by fear and starts runni ng. He swears that as he sprinted out the shadows took on form and substance an d eventually started looking like . . . well better not to say. Needless to say he withdrew every offending spell (anything that could be traced to him - he wa s that scared!) and left - never going back. On the scroll was the hermetic spell formula for the comet spell. He called it StarStrike, because that was th e name of the spell in Speretheriel that was written on the scroll. So thats it - the whole story. Hope it helps you out. Now the Tir is really going to be aft er me . . Ragman is doing fine, although he's a little crispy still... Right now I've got Rojo in a secure location and we're starting to interrogate him. Should only take about 3 to 4 days tops. I guess now we know the difference between professionals and posers. Millhaus, The Ragman would like to talk to you about something having to do with the magicker he geeked. I'm not that fluent in magic stuff yet and he needs someone who understands him. Once we pump all the information out of Rojo Li we're gonna turn him over to our employers and decide wether or not to complete the 'overall' mission objective and decimate the Overdrive operation, although it looks like the flow has been dwindling on the street in the past couple of days. YEah, choke points can be a real pain, but I wrote a header file that the frame sends ahead of itself through the choke -- you ever hear of data segmentation? The header file goes through, then the frame chops itself into pieces that'll fit in the choke point without setting off alarms, sends the pieces through and recompiles under the header on the other side. You can send a paired small frame with just a mondo sleaze along with the big jammer to get the pieces past the IC in the choke or the node beyond without hassle. Also, smart frames are great for hassling people or for taking them out. I saw an assassin frame called the Crimson Avenger, that given a person's icon, wil hunt them down and attack them on sight. As well, Wrecker here in the 'Ford put together the Deadly Attack Clown, that hunts up all the person's accounts, and copies itself into the system. Then every time they try to access the Matrix, even turtling or on the phone, they get this obnoxious clown pop up in front of them, hurling insults and making rude noises. I guess the thing watches for credstick use, 'cause I saw a guy get hit with the clown at a pay phone -- he was okay for a few seconds after he used a bearer 'stik but then the clown popped up again.
