Anyway we reluctantly agreed to pull this job for Lofwyr, next thing I know we are in a Dragon with 10 fully armed mercs, strapping on a chute (by the way, chuting in was quite an interesting experience, I suggest you try it). Anyway after meeting some stiff resistance we gained entry to the 'research' facility. What we saw inside definately justified the background count around the place, It was possibly the worst thing I had witnessed. This facility existed for the purpose of creating assassins, against the subjects will. This 'training' consisted of a regime of brainwashing, installing experimental cyberware, implanting a special experimental spell lock and then loading them with one time internal combat drug injectors. The end result of this is that these beings (of which there were a huge variety are released and become (literaly) walking timebombs, complete with the knowledge of their target(s). Anyway after taking control of the facility the NodeFaerie began working on the computer system, after about 20 minutes he opened his eyes and informed Vanessa and I that several of these 'things' had been dispatched with shadowrunners as their target. He also noted that the process was irreversable, as each being was implanted with a small 'cortex' type bomb. Upon being told this I started ending the misery of those beings left in transition, while NodeFaerie continued his work and Vanessa remained guarding him. When I made my way to the evac point neither Vanessa nor NodeFaerie were present, Vanessa has an annoying habit of being late so at that point I was not worried, however I was later informed that neither she or Nodie had been at the 3 alternate evacs. I can only trust in Vanessa's abilities, she will get out somehow... Unfortunately I do not know who is targeted or by what, as only NodeFaerie has that information, meanwhile I am trying to pay off a debt that NodeFaerie has left untended. ]<<<<< -- Fenris <19:29:41/02-28-54> >>>>>[ I just came up from Tacoma, and I noticed a Conestoga Trailblazer with a 7 meter van trailer overturned in the southbound lanes. Drek! What am I worried about? This is ShadowLand; no CorpCops'll see this... Anyways, I see my friend Matt posted a bunch of security log listings a few days ago in regards to the run, so I'll just fill in the blanks. Ya see, it began with us sneaking ourselves in to Corp territory. That was the relatively easy part. Jacamus had snagged us some Aztech uniforms from somewhere (no questions asked), so nobody bothered us except for some eager-beaver, kid CorpCop who "Demanded that we show our passes before we enter the delivery area, as per Section 227, Paragraph A of the Aztech Security Manual." One of his superiors, who was convinced that he knew us (courtesy of a minor disguise spell on my behalf) just waved us through, laughing at his drekhead companion. We got to a back entrance, and Morgue worked his espionage-type skillz on the security cam. We slipped in, Morgue and Jac headed towards the Security Office, and Vilya and I started the hunt for Gallagher. While waiting for the go ahead from M&J, I pulled a quick Astral Scan, hiding in a nearby coat closet. Gallagher was where he should've been... and was in the process of summoning up one bad-ass fire elemental to protect him. He knew we were there! I'd be fragged if I was going to let that fact stop me though... M&J snapped me out of my trance, letting me know that the cams and alarms were shut down on the way to Gallagher's abode. I took out my map, and followed the route that Morgue had marked for me (anyone ever hear of an old-type device called a TripTick? Kinda reminded of one of those...). Anyways, I got to the hallway outside of the apartment, and found three guards waiting for me. One of them asked me what I was doing there, demanded a pass, and snuffed it when I took him out with my pistol. One of the guards darted around a corner, squawking into his headset. The final guard opened fire on me with his assault rifle, to no avail. Ya see, Vilya had taken the form of a ring on my finger, and was protecting me with all kinds of spell-shields. Vilya also lent me a hand, and took out the guard with a fireball. Stepping by the remains of Mr. Bar-B-Que, I rounded the corner, and drilled a hole through the head of the third bewildered CorpCop. The time had finally come, and without any further thoughts, I shot the electronic lock on Gallagher's door, and kicked it inward. The bastard was just standing there, in the middle of his oh-so-posh living room, with a somewhat amused look on his face. "Do I know you... novice?", he asked. "I was Felinius the Great's apprentice, wormfood.", I replied, summoning up most of my strength to nail him with a hellblast spell. All I succeeded in doing was vaporizing the entire room, and most of the wall behind him. His elemental absorbed the brunt of the attack. "My, my, my... so bloodthirsty for one so young... and so stupid. You're going to meet the same fate as your master you know.", and with that, he tried to blast me. I staggered back a bit, but Vilya once again saved my butt. Looking just a tad surprised, he commented "No matter... there are other ways to destroy you." He sat himself down on the floor legs crossed, his eyes began to flutter, his elemental took a more solid form, and he buggered off into Astral Space. Vilya followed suit with the elemental, and appeared in the more solid form of an elven warrior to guard my physical carcass as I too ventured into Astral Space. Instantly I was assailed by the animated astral forms of Gallagher's spells. I wielded my magesword, and fought them off the best I could. When I finally saw an opening in the horde of spell-creations, I saw Gallagher... a towering, dark cloaked form, with leathery wings jutting from his back, and cinders for eyes. Fatigued, wounded, and more than a bit jittery, I leapt at him anyway, his concentration taken entirely with maintaining the spells. My sword found it's mark, and drove deep into his heart. He screamed in agony, and dissapeared from the Astral Plane instantly. I also left, and when adjusted to the confines of my physical form, ran to Gallagher's side. His elemental had either run rampant with his death, or was destroyed by Vilya... II didn't know then, I still don't know, and I don't suppose that I'll ever know. Though he was coughing up blood, and quite obviously at death's door, he managed a twisted smile. "Not bad...should...consider a job... with the Corp." he uttered, coughing and hacking. "Frag off. Who hired you to do in Felinius?" He smiled, said "Hirisoto.", and died. Yes chummers, Hirisoto... as in "Hirisoto Cyberlabs". Vilya turned itself back into a ring, and we left the charred apartment. On the way back to the rendezvous point, we realized that something had gone awfully wrong, however. In hindsight, M&J were found out, and a security alert was issued. They had escaped, lining the corridors with explosives on the way out. We were not so fortunate. An entire security detail bumped into us on the way out. For the mathematically impaired, that's 20 CorpCops to the 2 of us. They opened fire on me, but Vilya had me protected. I fired back with my pistol, retreating along the corridors, and attempting to find an alternate escape route. I could barely walk I was so tired, and I'm sure Vilya felt the same. The CorpCops eventually backed us into a dead-end, and had opened up on me full force with their hardware. I thought for sure that I was fragged, when I noticed something that the guards didn't. Explosives stuck to the walls. Casting a magic fingers spell, I tweaked the control pad on one of the bombs to go off immediately. To make a long story short: Bomb go boom. With the CorpCops dead, I managed to crawl out of the resulting rubble, and escape amidst the chaos of the other explosions. The rest of us rendezvous-ed back at the Smoke Shop... minus Vilya. I don't have a fragging clue what happened, but somehow, Vilya didn't make it out. The study of spirits isn't really my cup of SoyaBeer, but I think that while protecting me, Vilya was somehow removed from the physical plane. We haven't heard from it since. The other night, if WW was in the hall I think he was, he set off one o' my improvized claymores. Very handy little recipe they gave us back in the Corps. 1) Mix 1 half kilo of your favorite high explosive with another half kilo of the same. 2) Wrap said mix in about two meters chain and place where it will do the most damage (my favorite is in the knee space under a desk). 3) Wire in about three different detonators and/or booby traps. 4) Run like hell. I must say that was a really exciting little adventure. Aztechs outer security might be hell, but once yer inside it gets really lax. When we hit the security office it was a joke. Nobody had weapons locked and loaded, or even nearby. I took out the first goon with my Corps survival knife and number two goon with a double tap to the head. Morgue cleared the rest and we began our dirty work. After sending the computers into a terminal crash and re-reouting the security details we booby-trapped the chairs, lights and even the coffee machine. Heeeeeee, heeeeee, heeee! A little prowling and growling later the Azzies finally got their acts together and we were in deep merde. We decided to spilt out the back and high-tailed for the Smoke Shop. ***** Encrypt: Vilya/Forge Ya know, its strange you should mention astral security. I've got a bad astral security problem. A mage I was drinking with a few months back told me a little about my problem. Back when I was merc in the CAS with a group called the Apocalypse Horsemen, we all gave cell samples so they could grow new limbs for us when we got them shot off (or whatever). A couple years back, the Colonel started integrating magic with our physical force. One of the shamans he used scared the holy crap outta me. I went inta his offfice one night and there were creepy crawlies everywhere. A coupla good-sized praying mantis were grabbing everything and eating it. One even took a swing at me. That night I decided to leave. I raided the armory and loaded a van in the motor pool. I grabbed a lot of beta grade cyber and top line weapons. A fixer I had met earlier on a deployment to CalFree took me under his wing. I traded some of the cyber and weapons to Freddy to pay for my bills to get the cyber implanted. After I climber outta the vat a year later I started working with Freddy's security company. About the same time, I started getting assassination attempts. They weren't very good at first, but they could always find me. After a while they started getting farther and fathre apart, but more deadly. The last time a man-sized praying mantis showed up in a big package delivered to my SF apartment. After a long-gory fire fight I managed to scrag it, but not until it nearly scragged me. After Freddy got me patched up, I came up here, just to try and get away. Anyway, so this mage says my problems all come from that blood sample I gave. He says the Horsemen can find me because of it. And the last hit "critter" was a wyrd mantis. Now why in the hell would somebody send a fraggin' wyrd mantis after me when an elven hitman is probably better, not ta mention a whole helluva lot cheaper? The video is obviously taken from the first person point of view of Frosty. The club is a chaotic blend of flares, strobes, fireballs and writhing bodies. Seven men and two women are playing an assortment of instruments and are successfully whipping the crowd into a frenzy. The camera zooms in on a group of people. In the center of the "mosh" pit, Warped Warlock, TK, and Hammerhead are flailing around and "skanking". A slim girl is being body passed to them. As the girl reaches the group, the glint of light off of steel is seen. She slashes at Hammerhead as he reaches up to pass her along. Two men emerge from the crowd and lunge at Warped Worlock and TK. The crowd panics and dives to the ground as gunfire erupts in the room. The camera darts up to a nearby balcony where two men are seen with machine pistols. One of the men is a large bald-headed Mexican, the other is a well built caucasion. They appear to be spraying the pit with lead. Frosty's hand extends in the direction of the balcony as a red cross-hair locks onto the bald guy. The bald Mexican's face disappears in a cloud of red mist and gore as a flame erupts from Frosty's palm. The other man dives for cover. The camera darts back to the pit. Hammerhead is bathed in blood as he removes the girls throat. It is obvious that much of the blood that covers him is his own. In a blind rage he continues to beat the lifeless body of the girl. The band has been hurried off of the stage and Warped Worlock is attempting to fend off the advances of a knife weilding punk. It is obvious by his movements that this is a very well trained "punk." TK misses with a spinning back kick and his assailent lashes out with his spurs. TK redirects the blow at the last moment with an open fist. His other arm striking the man in the stomach. A hole explodes in the base of Hammerhead`s neck as the camera swings back towards the balcony. Frosty's hand blazes a trail up the side of the wall. Bullets chew through the plaster an quickly find thier target. The remaining gunman is thrown backwards as bloody holes open in his shoulder, neck, and forehead. The camera returns to the melee in the pit. Hammerhead is laying on top of the girl and is motionless. TK is following up another blow to the face of his foe with a right hand. He grabs the shorter mans hair and yanks him forward and down. Warped Worlock's hands begin to glow. In desperation the punk leaps at him. A bolt of energy catches the punk in mid air and he falls to the ground clutching his bleeding ears. TK is now behind his attacker. He reaches around with his right hand and grabs the man's left shoulder. With his left hand he grabs a handful of hair on the right side of the man's head. With all of his strength, TK twists the man's body, snapping his neck. The attacker falls to the ground. Worped Worlock is now standing over the top of the punk. He raises his foot and stomps on the back of the kid's neck, killing him......... END OF FILE} Well, that's what really happened. The assailant shot 3 men and beheaded a fourth today outside the Royal Imperial Bank of Tokyo. He then took the beheaded man's briefcase and eye witnessess claim that he quickly searched the body of the headless man. The man police are looking for is described as being about 5'5, heavily built and very fast, probably cybered, he was wearing black ninja clothes that left only his eyes free, as such police are having difficulty identifying the assasin. Details were later released that all the security cameras in the area had been mysteriously tampered with so that none had recorded the event. It was also revealed that a device had been fitted to the car that the dead men were about to enter. The car had a non-standard engine cut off device that could be operated by remote control. Police were quickly on the scene but a thorough search of the alley that the assailant was last seen heading and the surronding area found nothing. At the moment Lone Star are considering many motives high on the list are assasination or simple theft as it is understood that the beheaded man had just withdrawn a large amount of money. ]<<<<< -Seattle Newsfile (19:17:51/3.2.55) >>>>>[ How did Officer Friendly find ShadowLand in the first place?
