The were created by Roy "Mr Nostalgia" Thomas and debuted in the pages of the All Star Squadron. After the Crisis the book lost direction and soon disappeared, but while it was going it did feature some nifty Roy Thomas writing (if you only know him from Secret Defenders, you owe it to yourself to check out the back issue bins. He did great work on Thor, All-Star Squadron, Invaders and Infinity Inc, to name just a few). It also had some art by some guy called Todd McFarlane. I wonder what ever happened to him? Like most of Earth-2, these characters are pretty reasonable. A few would do just fine in a 100pts + 125pts of disads starting campaign.
