Miline Northampton, MA 413-584-9121 The Xeric Foundation has announced its most recent grant recipients. A total of $15,620 was awarded to five comic book creators. Established by Peter Laird, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Northampton, MA based foundation offers financial assistance to self-publishing comic book creators nationwide and qualified charitable and nonprofit organizations in wester Massachusetts. Unfortunately, artists outside the United States are not at this time eligible to apply and anthologies will not be reviewed. The current grants cover the six-month period beginning August 1, 1994 and ending January 31, 1995. The next deadline and review dates are July 31, 1995 and September 1, 1995, respectively. The charitable organization grants were decided in June 1994 and announced separately. The Foundation has awarded in excess of $231,000 to comic book creators and non-profit organizations since its first grant cycle in September 1992.
