Mine is a 3rd generation copy of the original, which was itself a photocopy. I'll be posting here over the next couple weeks reviews of each new story in the issue, with commentary on what happened prior to the story, what this one's about, what happened in the "real" DCU because this wasn't published, and whether or not the material eventually saw print. Coming shortly: my review of Black Lightning v1 #12. CCC came in two parts, distributed at the same time. Part 2 is below. Issue 1 has a cover by Al Milgrom, featuring the 1978 DC Bullet in the upper left corner (this one has a white border and an "ALL NEW" banner), and in the upper right is the price: "STILL 10c". The art depicts a van with the DC Bullet on the back dumping off a bunch of dead bodies, representing the characters whose stories are inside. These bodies include Creeper, Black Lightning, Steel, Vixen, Mirror Master, Shade the Changing Man, Claw the Unconquered, the Deserter, Ragman, the Ray, Chronos, and Mr. Miracle. Hovering above is Deadman. Issue 1 also has an typewritten editorial, revealing some interesting things. CCC was published to secure the copyrights and present the material of stories that were ready to go in June 1978 when DC cut back on their line. Only 35 issues where made; 34 went to "the creators and copyright people", and #35 went to Bob Overstreet to show that it actually existed. Todd Klein did the logo and pasteups on the covers; Paul Kupperberg took the pages down to Duplicating and collated the stories; Paul Levitz and Cary Burkett helped find the missing pages; Sol Harrison gave the OK. The indicia lists it as: "CANCELLED COMICS CAVALCADE, Vol. 1, No. 1, Summer 1978, published twice in a lifetime by DC Comics, Inc. [rest of standard indicia deleted] SUBSCRIPTION DEPARTMENT: Annual subscription rate: $10,000.00. Outside USA $9,500 ('bout time they got a break)." Issue 1 contains the following stories: * Black Lightning #12 (11-12/78) cover, 17p BL, 8p Ray * Black Lightning #13 (1-2/79) cover * Claw the Unconquered #13 (10-11/78) 25p Claw, letters * Claw the Unconquered #14 (12/78-1/79) 25p Claw * The Deserter #1 (12/78) 25p Deserter (Western) * Doorway to Nightmare #6 (11-12/78) cover, 25p Madame Xanadu, text page * Firestorm #6 (12/78-1/79) 25p Firestorm * The Green Team #2 (no date) 20p Green Team * The Green Team #3 (no date) 20p Green Team Issue 2 of CCC has another editorial. The indicia to this one says that issue 2 is Fall 1978; otherwise it's the same as issue 1. Subscription dept. info is a little different: "Annual subscription rate: $7.65 (couldn't sell any at last issue's rate). Upon cancellation of this publication, all subscriptions will convert to Freedom Fighters, which will convert to Secret Society of Super-Villains, which will convert to Justice League of America, which, if cancelled, will most likely convert to a revived issue of Cancelled Comics Cavalcade. Only West German Marks accepted as payment for subscriptions to this publication." The cover, by Alex Saviuk, shows a DC employee with a crew cut and glasses (E. Nelson Bridwell?) literally kicking out OMAC and Shade the Changing Man. Nearby are Steel, the Creeper, Vixen, Prez, and Kamandi. Beneath the CCC logo is a sign reading "Unemployment, Inc., 75 Rockerfeller Plaza" above a door to an office building. In the upper left corner is the Silver Age DC logo ("Superman - National Comics" around a "DC" in the center), and cover price is $1. Issue 2 contains a number of full issues, as well as some solo covers. Issue 2 contains: * Kamandi #60 (11-12/78) cover, 17p Kamandi, 8p OMAC * Kamandi #61 (1-2/79) 8p Kamandi framing story, 17p Sandman * Prez #5 (no date) 20p Prez * Shade the Changing Man #9 (9-10/78) cover, 17p Shade, 8p Odd Man * Showcase #105 (10/78) cover, 25p Deadman, text page * Showcase #106 (11/78) cover, 25p Creeper * Steel #6 (12/78-1/79) cover, 25p Steel * Secret Society of Super-Villains #16 (8-9/78) cover, 17p SSOSV * Secret Society of Super-Villains #17 (10-11/78) 17p SSOSV * Vixen #1 (11-12/78) 25p Vixen * Army at War #2 (12/78-1/79) cover (Sgt.
