From: [s--y--t] at [aol.com] (Staywet) Newsgroups: talk.politics.guns Subject: ABC, making cartoons about history PC, kids mislead Date: 8 Oct 1994 21:54:01 -0400 i was fliping channels today 10/8/94 looking for pregame shows when i saw an old public service teaching cartoon on ABC, the name of the cartoon series is School House Rock, its a min or 2 min long cartoon that runs inplace of a commercial. It is supposed to educate the cartoon going people of the country. This was a cartoon that i had seen many years before, it was about the revolutionary war. I think the title was "the shot heard around the world". The cartoon (sort of a musical) quickly explains how the revolutionary war started because the British were on their way to confiscate guns and capture an arsenal, it shows a little of paul revere and talks about George Washington, and Cornewallace, and about the whites of their eyes, and how at times the war did not go well. All of this surprised me because the cartoon was still on the air and because it mentioned gun confiscation, well in between the minor subject changes mentioned above, there is a musical chorus. At this point is pictured a woman handing a powder horn to a young man holding a gun, the young man is accopmained by two older men. The lyrics at this point used to be "get your powder, get your gun, and report to general washington". I thought i still heard the line of lyrics ONCE (it used to be all the way through), but after that one time the lyrics were obviously redubbed and changed to" get your blankets, get your sons, and report to general washington.", the picture being showed at time, however, was not changed. The picture was still of a woman handing a young man a powder horn. The whole thing really pissed me off, Because it shows a concerted effort to rewrite history to suit current politics. Now some of you out there will probably say well that the general idea still has not changed much, and that kids still can get the message. Well i say that if your childeren's children still see this cartoon, that even more of the lyrics or picture will be changed. No doubt in my mind that there is a concerted effort to slowly change history to suit the needs of those who know whats best for us, as Granny would say on the Beverly Hillbillies- "its a definated case of the creepin crude" Next time you climb into the shower look at the ole shower curtain and examin the mold slowly growing on it, if not treated it can overwhelm your bathroom before you know it. Now with that imagery fresh in your mind consider Klinton, Feinstein, Shumer, and HCI the mold growing on our constitution. Many say that the constituiton is a living document, if that be the case i say its coming near the time when it will require another blood transfusion. Unfortunately, the bill of rights is only worthy of our blood and we must make sure that we will always be worthy of it Thomas M
