(AP) - The City Council repealed an >ammunition-registration ordinance police said was worthless, and rejected an >alternative measure drafted by gun control advocates. [snippage] Another question is, why was the law repealed? The Pasadena City Council, of course, did not do it in a vacuum. Literally thousands of hours were put into this issue, at the grassroots level, by an NRA Members Council. Every single time the ammo issue was brought up by City Council, WE WERE THERE, IN PERSON. Many times we were asked, "Don't you folks get tired of showing up?" We smiled pleasantly. We did not just send a few dollars to NRA-ILA, and hope they would take care of it. We ourselves wrote to, and talked with the local newspapers. We published newsletters and wrote up fact sheets and sent them to City Council members. We helped to educate a lot of news reporters, and they finally started telling the real story, the TRUTH. We worked with the gun store owners and managers, and ensured that they also showed up at City Council meetings. We met with police officials, and explored and discussed the issue. We met with our opponents, and we discussed the issue. "Don't you folks ever get tired?" they asked us. We just smiled pleasantly. We never let up, not once, and we ... never forgot. Sometimes, in this eternal war, when we work really hard and long on something, we win one. One small battle in a big, ongoing war. And even the Associated Press stops long enough to notice, and give us a few paragraphs. We NEVER asked, "What's the NRA doing about this?" ... because we know there are so many brushfires burning now that the NRA in VA absolutely does NOT have the payrolled staff to handle all the battles. Those days are over, forever. So we handled it. All of us have families, and full time jobs ... but we made the time. We did NOT ask, "Where's the NRA on this?" Because WE ARE THE NRA.
