Well. Here's the rest of the story. It was a ludicous bill that was introduced by Az State Senator John Kaites that prompted Dean Pleasant to use the Election to expose the Arizona Attorney General wannabe for what he was. Senator Kaites (pronounced Kay tess), introduced a bill that was designed to get maximum LEO support (and he's a past prosecutor). This bill made it a felony for anyone to own, manage, rent, lease, hold the lean or mortgage on any building that had installed bars on the doors or windows that would impead the entrance of LEO's in a no knock service of a warrant. This bill also gave the same penalty if there was an "Attack Dog" that did the same thing. Sound crazy? Yeah, no kidding! Soooo, Dean Pleasant made it his mission to expose this guy and the people he represented. Stories say things like, "soundly defeated in the 1994 election"... well for a Libertarian to get almost 30% with almost no money spent is something to be concerned about if your a Fascist Republican that want really really badly to be Arizona's next Attorney General. The meeting that has been described in the press was initiated by John Kaites. Only a short time before Dean Pleasant filed for the ballot. Senator Kaites had really pissed off a millionare Republican donor that was working with other Republicans and Libertarians on a Fully Informed Jury Act bill that was getting alot of attention. With the efforts of then State Party Chairman of the Libertarian Party and now Presidential candidate, Rick Tompkins and many other FIJA activist, the FIJA bill passed the Arizona Senate (the first time this has happened in the country). To gain favor with this very wealthy campaign contributor, John Kaites and others that were in the state House of Representatives at that time made strong commitments, saying that should this bill pass the Senate, they would give it full support in the House. Well, it passed the Senate easily and was then put before the goose stepping Kaites' and friends committee where they promptly killed it. Filed to then run for the State Senate, Mr. Kaites was very concerned by the upstart Libertarian Party putting up a candidate against him. It was later learned that Mr. Kaites was worried that this campaign would be well financed by supporters of FIJA that had it out for him. The main concern wasn't if he would win the election as much as it was how much of his accumulation of contributions would be needed to make sure he won while still building for the future he had planned for himself. It was the line of questions at this meeting and followup inqueries with other contacts in the Republican Party that gave us all a clearer picture. Even Kaites stated that Dean was very pleasant and calm he was just intimidated by the fact that he always carried a sidearm..... well isn't that the whole point? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Second Amendment is For Everyone l Be a S.A.F.E.
