The BATF spokesman claimed that:

1) they knocked.
2) the agents were shot at before they got out of the cattle wagon.
3) the helocopter was shot at before the raid even began.
4) the shooting started after the B-D guy slammed the front door 
   in their faces.
5) the reason the raid failed is that Koresh knew they were comming.

Of course all must be true.  :-)
