Olsen) Subject: Chris Padavich July 25, 1995 Dear Carl, High, my friend Chris Padavich of Plano, Iowa, is going to prison. He received two nickels for "not" smoking a joint with a confidential informant. The police perjured themselves. The Supreme Court of Iowa upheld the search warrant, which was a house his parents had rented to a lady & her kids. He wasn't even around, but he did 77 days in the Appanoose County Jail before he was able to bail out. That's not to mention they sold all his possessions 22 days after his incarceration. Chris is one of my best friends. I've known and trusted him with my life & still do. I guess I should call him inmate #206497. But he isn't a number, he's my friend. NORML is really important in my life, especially because I'm a paraplegic and use it for stress control & muscle spasm. But the medical marijuana aspect never even hit me until my son was diagnosed with leukemia 3 and a half years ago. He went through chemotherapy for 3 years. The University of Iowa tried Marinol, they tried everything, but I introduced him to herb. It helped. He's been in remission for 3 and a half years. Thank God & the marijuana he grows for us. So here is the thing we can do to help Chris: Write letters saying, I am writing in reference of inmate #206497, Christopher F. Padavich. I feel that his incarceration is unjust. As a citizen of the State of Iowa and a voter, I respectfully request that he be released. He is not violent and has never hurt anyone. The decision to put him in prison was wrong and unjust. We think the South Central Iowa Drug Task Force & the Appanoose County Police Department should be investigated at a federal level. What has happened to our Government? Letters should be addressed to Iowa Board of Parole 523 East 12th Street Des Moines, Iowa 50319 Sign your name Write these guys Dept. of Justice Civil Rights Division 10th and Constitution Ave. NW Room 7131 Washington, D.C. 20530 Civil Rights Division, I am writing to the Civil Rights Division to complain about police misconduct in a criminal case in Appanoose County, Iowa, in Centerville, Iowa. I have read the transcript of the trial and search warrant affidavits and I feel that the police should be investigated for violating his civil rights. The police officers Gary D. Anderson and Michael C. Seay committed perjury and engaged in illegal conduct. As a citizen of the United States I respectfully request an investigation of the matter. Thank you. D. J.
