From: [j--c--k] at [via.net] (Joe Zychik) Newsgroups: talk.politics.drugs Subject: Confessions of a Pot Head Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 04:54:42 GMT The Soviet Union was ruled by a handful of despots and bureaucrats. Only 1/% of the population belonged to the Communist Party. The party stayed in power as long as the other 99% of the people allowed it to. The Civil Rights movement started when Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of the bus. Ghandi, without firing a shot or leading troops into battle, brought the British Empire to its knees. Meet Ashley Clements. Ashley has been a pot head for the last 25 years. He just e-mailed every Congress Person on the net and invited them to arrest him for smoking pot. It's not a prank. He means it and he's ready to go to jail. The war on drugs is a colossal unjust, evil, insane failure. So was segregation, communism, and British subjugation of the people of India. The war on drugs will end. Some prefer to end it by offering studies and waiting years for Congress to debate it. Others know better. The Bill of Rights is not footnoted. Nor was it approved by the government. No bureaucracy submitted a cost/benefit analysis to justify it. It hurt a lot of feelings. The war on drugs is a war on dignity and freedom. It humiliates the dignity to control your own body and imprisons your freedom to act on a personal, nonviolent decision. Freedom and dignity will not be resurrected by getting down on bended knee and asking pinhead bureaucrats and sleazy politicians, "Oh please let me do this." According to Senator Bill Bradley, 25,000,000 people in the US use illicit drugs. There are a lot more drug users than there are cops, judges and wardens. If one percent of them (250,000) stood up and said, "OK you oppressive, racist assholes, arrest me" the war on drugs would end a lot quicker. Ask Rosa Parks. --------------------------------------------- If you would like a copy of Ashley's letter, send e-mail to: [j--c--k] at [via.net] with ash-tl in the header The Zychik Chronicle is pro-Liberty publication.
