Newsgroups: alt.drugs From: [p--t--r] at [petermc.demon.co.uk] (Peter McDermott) Subject: Pressure for legalization in UK Date: Mon, 23 May 1994 21:11:12 GMT The Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, one of Britain's most senior policemen today has said that he sees legalization of cannabis coming "after an understanding of the effect on our society" adding that the current policies on drugs aren't working and calls for a wider debate on cannabis. This statement is echoed by a report from the Institute for Public Policy Research which recommends cannabis be decriminalized for five years as an experiment which would lead to permanent legalization. I told you it was coming, didn't I?
