Newsgroups: talk.politics.drugs From: [t--oh--n] at [eskimo.com] (Tom Rohan) Subject: WA Marijuana Initiative Date: Thu, 1 Apr 1993 01:47:55 GMT We are trying to get an initiative on the November ballot in Washington State to legalize marijuana. It is Initiative Measure 595. We need 181,000 signatures to get it on the ballot. Last year in a hastily drawn up and run effort we managed to get 75,000 signatures. It was not enough to get the initiative on the ballot last year, but it was encouraging that we got so many signatures in so short a time. This year we are much better organized and have started earlier. I think we have a good chance of getting the required number of signatures on the petitions. You, of course, have to be a registered Washington voter to sign the petition, but if anyone outside the state, sympathetic to the cause, could spare some bucks for our campaign we would greatly appreciate it. Please send all inquiries or checks to: Washington Citizens for Drug Policy Reform (WCDPR) PO Box 1614 Renton, WA 98057 I'll keep you posted on the progress! I really think we can get the initiative on the ballot. Then the fight begins! We need bucks. Help!
