It is rumored that the average manufactured cigarette has around 60-100 chemical additives: preservatives, fragrances, burning agents (to make it burn up faster), possibly even in some cases deliberately addictive substances (other than the tobacco) to make you keep buying *that* brand... there is really no way to know. I suspect, though, that if one were to smoke *tobacco* rather than *tobacco-and-scores-of-synthetic-chemicals*, one's health would not be quite so impaired... this is why I started smoking American Spirit cigs, until I moved. Can't find them around here, but anyway, they're completely natural tobacco. No shit. They get stale a couple days after being opened, and will go out if you quit puffing on them. Also they taste extremely good. Definately reccomended. SK
