From: [j--m--s] at [wonder.demon.co.uk] (James Wallis) Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.announce,rec.games.frp.advocacy,rec.games.frp.misc Subject: New RPG magazine Date: Fri, 21 Jan 1994 15:21:55 +0000 X-Mailer: cppnews $Revision: 1.40 $ We're looking for a few good writers. "Inter*action" is a new kind of role-playing magazine. After twenty years of new character classes, rules modifications and hints for referees, it's about time that somebody started paying some serious attention to the process of role-play itself: what it is; how it started ("D&D" is the wrong answer); how it works; why it works; its possible uses in training, education and self-improvement; whether it's a toy, tool or artform; looking at it from psychological, sociological, anthropological, cultural, moral, literary and critical viewpoints. "Inter*action" will be a twice-yearly academic-type journal dedicated to all aspects of role-playing and storytelling systems, from RPGs to virtual reality, improvisational drama and psychotherapy. It is not a spoof or a hoax. The first issue will be published in late April this year. We need writers who are interested in exploring the boundaries of what role- playing actually is and what it can be. We're looking for articles of 1000-5000 words, and will pay the puny rate of 0.5p (about 0.75 cents) per word for anything we print: if the magazine is successful, the payment rate will be increased. If you are interested in any aspect of Inter*action (and needless to say we're looking for distributors, stockists, advertisers and subscribers as well), please send email to the address below for more information and a copy of the writers' guidelines. -- James Wallis ([j--r--l] at [wonder.demon.co.uk]) Publisher of INTER*ACTION: The Journal of Role-Playing and Storytelling Systems. [For those who were wondering, the asterisk in "Inter*action" is pronounced in the same way as the blob in Mark Rein*Hagen's name. Just so you know.]
