From: [t--fi--v] at [cui.unige.ch] Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.archives Subject: SUPPLEMENT: Death or Glory v2.3 rules Date: 13 Oct 1994 13:47:59 -0400 STAND BY FOR A MESSAGE OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE!!.... ...NOW... This will NOT, repeat will NOT..be offered again... ITS HERE !!! ITS NOW!! ITS HAPPENING!!! ITS!....... ****************************************************************************** DEATH OR GLORY RP system v.2.3. + a number of supplements ****************************************************************************** DOG 2.x main sys is supposed to be generic, i.e. adoptable to any - or almost any RP background. That is because we needed the same sys (same characters) to play in different worlds and no other sys was flexible enough to handle that (Unfortunately I have not seen GURPS sys yet - sure there would be a lot of good ideas to steal - :) ). The system is not intended for sale and is distributed freely to anyone who wants it. A modest fee of Sfr. 10.- (around US$ 7.-) is however required if you want it to be printed out / copied onto a diskette and sent to you by ordinary mail. A lot of things such as movement rules, encumbrance tables, common objects price table and so on are not implemented yet - sorry for the inconvenience. Exact movement rules have never been crucial, prices are established by our GM considering how much money the players have and how much they need an object that they want to buy. I already have some great real data for movement - feet, horseback etc. as well as some real prices from the medieval Europe history, so all that will certainly appear in the next release. Supplements until now : - Medieval - the most regularly played by us. Contains some background data. You may ask also for a couple of maps in Microsoft Windows .BMP format. The main file is not arranged, not brushed, not spell-checked, but usable. - Magic - appendix to Medieval supplement - the part I'm very proud of. A lot of magic realms still to be described. - Board game - simple strategical battlefield for small medieval armies. - Firearms - modern firearms supplement - written for a post-holocaust world. Any additions, corrections or comments are most welcome. Oh, by the way, soon (as soon as I'll finish my exams - beginning of November) I'll change the system again. Most probably the skill system will be re- considered - the skills rolled under will be contributed equally by the skill itself and by the base attribute - I still have no clear idea about the dice- roll implementation of it. I'm thinking also about a system of sub-skills. Any propositions would be greatly appreciated. All the files sent are plain ASCII - 80 chars per line - with tab characters. Hope your editors accepts tabs as it would be a hell of a work for me to re-align tables with spaces. When you read the tables, just consider that a tab means next column - the columns are not always aligned. Plain ASCII files are ugly. I would recommend to print out formatted texts. Let me know if you are able to print .ps, or even better - you have Word for Windows 6.0 (original files are in this format), or just any word processor under DOS/Windows (have no export filters for UNIX text processors - sorry). Stay tuned, the files follow.
