From: [s m m] at [uunet.uu.net] Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.archives Subject: Welcome to rec.games.frp.archives Date: 9 Aug 1996 13:34:39 -0400 Firstly, do not send comments about stories, archive updates, etc. to me. I just post the stuff. Send them to the authors. If a poster requests anonymity for whatever reason, email addresses will not be given out. Period. Also, any posts which are comments/questions about stories, etc. will not get posted. Check out the charter for the group for further details. Secondly, to get something posted to the group, just post like you normally would. The message will get forwarded to me for actual posting. If you find your software having problems getting posts to me, go ahead and send mail directly to me with the appropriate headers intact. When you do post, or if for some reason you have to send something to me, please include the headers below in the subject line. This filters to a separate mail folder of mine. I get 200-300 work-related mail messages per day, and don't want these getting lost in my self-imposed daily tedium. Posts with advertisements, announcements about conventions, etc. will not be posted. People don't want to archive the posts, therefore they don't get posted. I'm not some sort of anti-commercial-internet-nazi (I work for UUNET for crying out loud 8-), it just doesn't belong here. Try posting to ..announce or .misc. Forged postings will be cancelled, period. I don't care if it was valid or not. If you're not seeing something posted that should be. Send me mail and find out what the scoop is that way. If I or one of the backups didn't post it, expect it to go bye-bye. Headers: The headers for posts will contain one of several prefixes to indicate the type of post. They will be: ADMIN: administrative schtuff BINARY: for uuencoded binaries of photos or executables of gaming-related subjects. CHARACTER: for example characters INTERVIEW: for interviews LIST: miscellaneous list of neat stuff. REFERENCE: for materials pertaining to other posts, such as story indeces, FAQ's, etc. RESOURCE: for game tools which are non system/genre specific. REVIEW: reviews of publications. STORY: for stories. SUPPLEMENT: for game rules or additions. DIGEST: Digest formatted mailing list posts. Other headers may be created, and I will explain them when this occurs. If an issue for a series, such as ADVENTURERS, for some reason does not get posted, please send me mail about it. I do not read every series (other than to verify that it should be posted), and as such do not keep track of many of the issue numbers closely. I will try to find out what happened, and get the non-posting corrected. I will no longer be posting copies of the archiev list posting, however I have been informed by Greg Schmidt that the list is currently being maintained somewhat, and is accessible via: http://www.hookup.net/~gschmidt/sams/ I will make my best effort to get to posts at least once a day. Occasionally, however, things here get hideously busy, and may not get to it once in a while. Don't panic unless you don't see a posting for, say, 3-4 days. 8-) I work Tuesday through Saturday, so if something gets sent to me on Sunday or Monday, it'll be a couple days before I get to it. Feel free to send me mail with comments, criticisms, missed information, but please do it as a post, as my filters look for things that should be going to rec.games.frp.archives. Flames with be sent to the bit-bucket. Steve Mansfield |The captain frowned.
